A Student is having issues joining my Online Class

We're all familiar with the occasional trouble some students have finding the physical location of an in-person class, and how we sometimes help to direct them last minute. But you may be wondering how you can do the same to help direct students to your live online class when they are "lost" - well, read on! 

Firstly, it's good to understand the process for students when joining a class. You can then help to understand possible issues they are having, and provide them with the steps they need to join. 

The Process:

Upon booking an online class, students are sent a booking confirmation with instructions on how to join. They are also sent a reminder email for their online class the morning of, again with instructions on how to join.

The key instruction is:

"On the day of your class, you can join the class by clicking [here]"

([here] = a link to their virtual classroom.)

OR

"To join your class, click the link below, and then click "Join Class"


Clicking on the link in either their confirmation or reminder email takes them to a page that includes your pre-class notes, a contact form to reach out to you directly, and a "JOIN CLASS" button that is greyed out until 10 minutes before the class date & time. 

10 minutes before the class date & time, the "JOIN CLASS" button will become solid and clickable. This is the Zoom link that will take students to your class. 

What if their booking has been rescheduled?

When an online class booking has been rescheduled by you or the student, they will receive a new confirmation email, with the same link to their virtual classroom. 

The "JOIN CLASS" button will automatically update to the new Zoom link for the date & time of their rescheduled booking. 

Troubleshooting:

  • Ask the student to refer to their booking confirmation or reminder email and follow the steps above. 

If the student is having trouble accessing their emails, or opening the link via their emails, you can direct them to:

  • Open this page = https://obby.co.uk/bookings 

  • Find the class under "Upcoming Bookings" 

  • Click "Join Class" on the booking to open the virtual classroom

  • Click the "JOIN CLASS" button in the virtual classroom to open Zoom

[Please note: Students will need to login or sign up (using the same email address they used to book) in order to access their booking via the Bookings page. They do not need to do this if they are joining direct from their emails.]

If the "JOIN CLASS" button is still greyed out at the start time of the class, or the student is unable to click this button, please contact us and we will endeavour to help as soon as possible.
