I've booked my first online class, how do I prepare?

So you've booked your first online class with Obby - yay!

You may be familiar with our in-person classes, or this could be your first time booking with us, either way, you'll need to follow these easy steps to prepare for your live, online class.

Before your class:

1. Pre-class notes

Make sure you've read through the pre-class notes provided via the virtual classroom. A link to your virtual classroom is sent in your booking confirmation, and reminder email sent the morning of your class.

2. Location, Location, Location

Think about where you will take part in the class. You don't want the space to be crowded or noisy, so think about moving to a quieter room. Video chat also requires a good internet connection, so it's worth sitting nearer to your wifi router to keep the signal strong.

3. Download Zoom

You will need to download an app called Zoom > Click here to download.
Downloading the app is super easy and you won't need to sign up for a personal Zoom account to join online Obby classes, just download. You can download Zoom on any device, whether it's a MAC, PC, Chromebook, iPad, Tablet, iPhone or Android.
Your teacher will use Zoom to conduct the live, online class.

4. Test Zoom

Join a test meeting to check that Zoom is working properly on your device, and have a play around with features so that you're familiar!
Test Zoom > Here.

Watch this How-to video:

Just before your class:

Please make sure to join the class promptly. As you have already downloaded Zoom, joining is easy.

  • Go to your booking confirmation or reminder email

  • OR go straight to your Bookings page

  • Click "Join Class" on the class

  • Click "JOIN CLASS" button

If the "JOIN CLASS" button is greyed out, this means the class is not yet live. This will become live 10 minutes before your class.

If you see a message on Zoom that says "Please wait for the host to start the meeting" - be patient! Your teacher will arrive soon :)

That's it - you're ready to start your class! 🎉
