Terms for Obby Teacher Benefits

Time Off Work Bundle (Bronze)

Time Off Work includes sick pay, family leave and compassionate leave.  Please find descriptions of each of these below.

Sick & Injury Pay:

Keep getting paid when you're sick or injured.

What is it?

As a key component of our flagship protection, Sick & Injury pay provides financial compensation in the case you're unable to work due sickness & injury

What's provided?

Up to £1,000 per month for a duration of three months can be claimed with a doctor’s note.

How is payment calculated?

  • Payment is calculated based on an average of monthly earnings for the previous 3 months before the claim is made. This includes all your registered income, not just income made through Obby!

  • If a member’s average monthly income over the 13 weeks before they claim is below the sum insured (£1,000) they will be paid pro rata the same as that average monthly income, not the full Sum Insured.

  • If a member’s average monthly income is above the sum insured (£1,000) then they will be paid a pro rata the maximum of the full sum insured.

  • The most that will be paid is the sum insured.

Family Leave:

Maternity and paternity benefit for Obby teachers.

What is it?

Family Leave ensures that you remain financially stable upon the birth of your child. Welcoming a child into the world shouldn't be seen as a burden.

What's provided?

A lump sum of £500 can be claimed with a doctor's note from the date your child is born. The policy covers all parents, regardless of gender. Is there a time limit on claims?

How is payment calculated?

  • One-off payments for family leave for every child born or adopted, provided members have held cover continuously for 12 months or more.

  • This is a fixed lump sum of £500, which can be claimed with a doctor's note from the date a member’s child is born.

Compassionate Leave:

Paid leave upon the loss of an immediate family member.

What is it?

Taking the time to look after loved ones and settle affairs in the case of family bereavement should be possible for everyone. The Compassionate Leave product does just this, ensuring you remain financially stable when taking on additional responsibility.

What's provided?

Up to 5 days of paid time off per year upon the loss of a parent, spouse, civil partner, child or adopted child.

How is payment calculated?

As with sick pay, the claimable day rate amount is calculated using your previous three months of earnings.
