What are Pre-class and Post-class notes (auto email reminders)?

Pre and post class notes are where you can contact your customers. If you have information you need to tell the customer before or after the class, this is how you can get the information to them.

Pre-Class Notes

Pre-class notes appear in the student's Virtual Classroom and are available for the student to see any time after they have booked their class. These are written by you. Do not include any of the class details, like date, time or location, as students will be booked on for different date, times etc.  The image below shows how the pre-class notes look in the Student dashboard.

Things you should include in your pre class notes

  • A welcome message introducing yourself and showing off your wonderful personality

  • Include a list of anything guests need to have for the class

  • If the studio is cold, tell them to wrap up (this is a regular complaint)

  • What clothing should they wear?

  • Should they bring lunch?

  • Can they buy lunch?

  • Do they need credit cards or money to buy materials

  • Should they bring any inspiration with them?

  • Encourage them to bring their cameras and take photos, say you'll be happy to get some snaps of them whilst they are taking part. This is a great way to get new photos for your Obby listing.

  • Can they park? Where is the best place?

  • Is the location easy to find?

  • Do they need to know a buzzer number, or special entry requirements?

  • What's the nearest tube station?

  • Can they get there via bus?

  • Is there a bar near by for food and drinks after if applicable

  • Do you have a favourite blog or magazine they could read, to get them excited for the class?

Have you drafted your pre-class reminder and are you ready to upload it? Here is how you do it:

  • Login to your Obby dashboard (click here to see how).

  • Click on 'Classes', then 'All' from the menu, and scroll to the class you want to add information for.

  • When you get to the class you want to update, click the 'Manage' button to go through to the class details.

  • Head to the Notes & Auto-Emails tile, then press 'Manage Emails'. Fill in the box.

A few guidelines for your notes:

  • Feel free to introduce yourself and welcome them to your class.

  • Add any relevant information they need, making particular note of anything they should bring themselves.

  • Feel free to add a mobile number for them to call you on in-case of emergencies on the day. Your number is already provided in the email, but it can't hurt to put it in your notes as well just in case!

  • Please do NOT include any website links or email addresses to your company, they will be removed anyway, but thought it was worth saying. Any questions the customers have for you will come through the Obby messaging system.

Post-Class Notes

Post-class notes are also available for the student from the student's Virtual Classroom. They are locked until the day after their class has taken place. Students are sent an email the day after their class directing them to view the post-class notes from their classroom age.

Things to include:

  • A message of thanks for attending.

  • Any follow-up information about the class that you feel would be useful.

  • Suggestions and links to your other classes on Obby.

  • A few words encouraging them to leave a review.

Do NOT include:

  • Your Obby review link(!). The email itself already includes a (rather large) button link for the customers to leave a review. They get a reminder to leave a review 3 more times over the space of a few weeks, so don't worry, we have this covered!

  • Your email address or links to your website or other classes on websites other than Obby - these will be removed if you add them.

Adding post-class notes is the same process as adding pre-class notes.


Then click "Save" and Voila, all sorted!
